It Starts with a Seed…

The ground is cold, but hope is growing. A mother turns the frozen soil with her bare hands. Her child stands beside her, holding a small bag of seeds. The child’s eyes shine with anticipation. They dream of food. They dream of a future. They dream of a garden full of life.

Missiles roar in the distance. Drones hum in the sky above. But they do not let go of the shovel. They do not give up. In many families, fathers and older brothers are at the frontlines. Now, mothers and children bear the burden of working the fields.

And they do it – with joy and hope.

“We just want to grow our own food. To see our children well-fed. To have something stored for winter. But we have no seeds.”

You can help a family grow their own food. With €26 / $28, they receive seeds and plants – and a chance for a secure future.

This is reality for many families in Ukraine today.

The war has driven up the price of everything – food, seeds, poultry, and livestock. Parents, already struggling to survive, now face a new challenge: making sure their children have food for the winter.

Voices from last year’s campaign

A Family’s Story

A father, mother, and three children are trying to survive. After the occupation, they were forced to leave their village.

They have little to their name and live in deep poverty. The older children try to earn a little money by working in the forest. The mother, pregnant with their fourth child, cannot work. The father was drafted into the army but was recently sent home for health reasons.

They long for a normal life and find joy in every small improvement in their daily life – even something as simple as wallpapering the old house they now live in.

To me, they are poor, but they know how to work hard. All they ask for is help to buy seeds.

Mother Kalyna’s Story

“When I lost my husband in the war, I realized how hard it is to care for children alone. How hard it is to keep a household running. How hard it is just to keep going.

But you must go on. You must think about how to feed your children and how to store food for the winter. I am grateful that we received help to buy seeds.

Every family needs support. And, above all, motivation to keep going, no matter the circumstances.”

When a mother like Valya says:
“Now we won’t go hungry this winter.”
…we know that your gift has made a difference.

Spring is here, and it’s time to plant. Your gift today means food for the winter.
