Thank you all who participated in our school start campaign
It was indeed necessary for the children. Many of them can now start their school in a good way.

First we delivered clothes and shoes in Friend’s House. Our Swedish friends had collected them and sent them to us in Ukraine. Many children found clothes and shoes that were good for them.

Next day, we drove to Bobrovitcha to buy what was still needed. Kids from Pisky and the nearby villages rode in our minibus to the bazaar.

I bought notebooks and other school things for Roma and Nazar. The boys were happy to choose these themselves.

Then I helped another boy by the name of Roma. We bought him a rucksack and clothes for school. Meanwhile, Viktor Pavlovich helped two other children choose their shoes and trousers.

Roma’s words:

I went to Bobrovicha today to buy things for school. I’m very grateful to all of you who helped me buy the rucksack. I’ll carry my books and notebooks in it. And the diary which will hopefully feature good grades. I also bought sportswear so I can attend sports lessons. Thank you all for your help. May God bless you.

We were happy. Everyone had their clothes and were ready for school. A total of 26 children were helped to start their school well.

Your support is really helpful

Read one family’s story here.
The single mother of three children has been ill for a long time. She has gone through several surgeries.

With the help of her children’s prayers and the support from many friends and relatives, the mother takes care of her children, although she is weak.

Thanks to your help, her children can go to school without the shame of wearing poorer clothes than their classmates.

Slavik’s words:

Twins Slavik and Sasha

Hello, our friend.
Greetings to you from Slavik.
I wish to thank you for helping us. I didn’t expect new clothes, because Mom has no money. We only spend money for bread and the absolutely necessary things. Thank you for being with me.
Greetings, and God bless you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Now that we are in Ukraine, I can watch the Ukrainian news. They covered what is required when children start their school.

The reporter said that it takes 7000 to 8000 hryvnia per child to start school. That means about 230 to 260 €.
The reporter joined a few families for the bazaar. They bought rucksacks, notebooks, pencils… and spent about 3000 hryvnia or about 95 €. Next, they had to buy the clothes for school.

The interview touched me deeply. A single mother of five said:
“I don’t want to give up my children to a government home just because I have no money. What can I do? I have no money to buy the things my children need for their school.” The mother cried, and her children soothed her.
The sum for her would be 35000 hryvnia or 1100 €. For her, as for many others, it is a totally impossible amount of money.

The pandemic has broken down families’ economies. They were poor before it, but it is much worse now. Due to the economic situation, the government-assisted poor children with 2000 hryvnia.

I thank God for all the children you helped. I thank God for you. The support for a good start at school means much more than I can put to words.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see you good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Sincere thanks to you!
Mirjam
